Subcategories

Learn how to create and manage part subcategories to improve inventory organisation, pricing accuracy, and service efficiency.

Subcategories provide a detailed level of classification, simplifying price setting and optimising the organisation and management of parts.


Accessing Subcategories

➡️ Profile icon > Settings > Parts and stock > Subcategories > View

The gray bubble indicates the category to which existing parts are associated. Remember, subcategories must always be tied to a category.


Add a Subcategory

  • Select the Category name from the drop-down.

  • Enter the Subcategory name.

  • Upload an image if required. Click 'Add Subcategory'

By creating subcategories within each main category, you enhance organization, streamline inventory, and improve efficiency in tracking parts related to specific brands or property areas.


Example 1: Categorising Parts by Brand

Purpose: Organizing parts by brand within subcategories offers detailed tracking of inventory, maintenance, and vendor relationships.

Category: Grant

  • Boilers: Includes heat exchangers, burner assemblies, and control panels for Grant boilers.

  • Pumps: Contains pump components like motor assemblies, impellers, and seals.

  • Accessories: Holds miscellaneous parts such as expansion vessels, valves, and pressure gauges.

Category: Worcester Bosch

  • Boilers: Stores parts for Worcester Bosch boilers (e.g., heat exchangers, gas valves, ignition modules).

  • Heat Exchangers: Contains specific components like plates, gaskets, and seals for Worcester Bosch.

  • Thermostats: Includes thermostat units and related parts for heating systems.

Category: Panasonic

  • Air Conditioning Units: Stores parts like compressors, condenser coils, and fan motors.

  • Ventilation Fans: Contains components for fans, including blades, motors, and control switches.

  • Heat Pumps: Houses parts specific to Panasonic heat pump systems, such as refrigerant valves, coils, and defrost sensors.

Example 2: Categorising Parts by Room (e.g., Kitchen, Bathroom)

Purpose: Using subcategories by room helps efficiently manage parts associated with specific property areas.

Category: Kitchen

  • Appliances: Includes parts for kitchen appliances like refrigerator shelves, oven racks, and dishwasher spray arms.

  • Fixtures: Contains components for kitchen fixtures such as sink faucets, cabinet hinges, and drawer slides.

  • Electrical: Stores electrical components for the kitchen, like lighting fixtures, outlets, and switches.

Category: Bathroom

  • Plumbing Fixtures: Includes parts for plumbing such as toilet fill valves, showerheads, and faucet cartridges.

  • Hardware: Contains bathroom hardware like towel bars, robe hooks, and soap dishes.

  • Electrical: Houses electrical parts such as exhaust fan motors, vanity light fixtures, and GFCI outlets.


Manage Subcategories

Edit a Subcategory

➡️ Click 'Edit' > Amend Subcategory name and/or update photo > Click 'Save Subcategory'

Delete a Subcategory

➡️ Click 'Delete' > Type "delete" to confirm > Click 'Delete'

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. A subcategory cannot be deleted if its associated category is linked to a part.
