Set up your SMS name

Learn how to set or edit your SMS name in Commusoft.

Setting your SMS name ensures customers immediately recognise who is sending them text messages from Commusoft. This name, which appears as the "sender" on their phone, helps build trust and brand recognition.

This setting is available as part of the optional, chargeable SMS add-on, which can be added to any Commusoft plan.


How to access the SMS name setting

➡️ Go to your Profile icon → Choose Settings → Locate Communication in the Categories menu → Click View next to Sms name


How to set or edit your SMS name

This page contains the single field for your SMS name.

  1. In the SMS name field, enter the name you want customers to see.

  2. Click Save.

  • The name must be 11 characters or fewer. The counter below the field will track this.

  • The name can only include letters (A-Z), numbers (0-9), spaces, periods (.), dashes (-), underscores (_), and ampersands (&). Other special characters are not permitted.


Common questions

💭 Why is the name limited to 11 characters?

This is a universal restriction for SMS sender IDs (the name that appears as the sender) to ensure messages are delivered reliably across all mobile networks.

💭 What happens if I don't set an SMS name?

If no name is set, your messages will display as being sent from 'COMMUSOFT'. Customers may not recognise this and could ignore the message.

💭 What if my company name is longer than 11 characters?

If your full company name doesn't fit, you must use a shortened or abbreviated version that customers will still recognise (e.g., 'Smith&Sons' for 'Smith & Sons Plumbing'). The name must be 11 characters or fewer.


Example use cases

💡 If your company is 'Smith & Sons Plumbing', you could use 'Smith & Sons' or 'SmithsPlumb'.
