A pipeline represents the stages an opportunity progresses through on its path to a successful sale. It provides a structured view of each significant step, helping visualize and manage opportunities effectively.

Step 3: Automations
Add-on required: Pipeline automation needs Sales+ (Team). Sales+ Solo gives you pipelines and multiple pipelines; Team adds the automations described below.
An automation does something on your behalf when an opportunity reaches a point in your pipeline, so your team doesn't have to remember to do it. Every stage has its own automations, which means you can chase a proposal at one stage and hand the customer over to a surveyor at another.
Choose when the automation runs
Each stage has its own set of automation links beneath it. The one you pick decides when the automation fires.
Add new entry automation: Runs when an opportunity enters the stage
Add new exit automation: Runs when an opportunity leaves the stage
Add new in stage automation: Runs while an opportunity sits in the stage
Add new stage change automation: Moves the opportunity to a different stage when your rules are met
Note: Stage change automation works differently from the other three. Instead of performing an action, it moves the opportunity to another stage, so it doesn't open the Action automation panel.
Choose what the automation does
Clicking an entry, exit, or in stage automation opens the Action automation panel. The actions are grouped by who they reach.
External communications reach your customer.
Email: Send an email to one or more external recipients
SMS: Send an SMS to one or more external recipients
Send proposal: Send a proposal by email to one or more external recipients
Internal communications reach your own team.
Email: Send an email to one or more users
SMS: Send an SMS to one or more users
Send proposal: Send a proposal by email to one or more users
Notification: Send an in-app notification to one or more roles
Scheduled activity: Create and assign a scheduled activity
Actions blocks change something on the opportunity itself.
Start sequence: Run one of your sequences against the opportunity
Set sales person: Assign the sales person
Tip: Use Start sequence when you want a whole run of follow-ups rather than a single message. A sequence can chase over days or weeks and stop on its own when the customer replies.
Activate the automation
Complete the action's setup panel.
Click Save.
Toggle the automation on.
Type Activate, then click Confirm.
A saved automation stays in Draft until you toggle it on, so check the toggle if an automation isn't firing.
Important: A Start sequence action only works if the sequence itself is already active. A sequence left in draft won't run, even once the automation is switched on.
Step 4: After Acceptance Tracking
This setting extends the pipeline to manage stages that occur after an opportunity is marked as won. This addition is designed to capture the crucial post-sale phases, ensuring that the process doesn’t stop at simply closing the deal. Instead, it allows for tracking various statuses such as pending finance approval, administrative checks, or project scheduling until the job officially begins. By incorporating these steps, the pipeline gives a more accurate and complete picture of each opportunity's progress, facilitating better forecasting and resource allocation.
Check the box(s) for available tracking options,
Display opportunities where Finance is pending Approval: Marks opportunities with finance options pending approval.
Display opportunities where the deposit hasn’t been paid: Highlights accepted opportunities where the deposit is yet unpaid.
Display jobs which haven’t been scheduled yet: Marks jobs awaiting scheduling after deposit payment.
Click Save to confirm your selections.
These selected options will appear in the Opportunities tab, showing an extended pipeline view.
Step 5: Required Custom fields
All the stages added to a pipeline will be displayed, and you can assign the required custom field(s) to the relevant stages. It's not mandatory to add required fields to every stage.
Click on Add new required field against a stage
Choose fields from the dropdown
Click Save
The custom fields you added will be displayed when using the specific pipeline you configure.
Activating an Opportunity pipeline
You can activate the pipeline immediately after completing the setup or leave it in draft mode to activate later.
To activate a draft pipeline,
➡️ Click Edit > complete the set up again > Type 'Activate' in the pop-up > Click Activate.
Activating a pipeline ensures its visibility for opportunities.
Managing Opportunity pipelines
Editing an Opportunity pipeline

Deleting an Opportunity pipeline
If an opportunity pipeline is unused, you can delete it.

Archiving the pipeline is possible only if it is assigned to any opportunity.
