A geo-fence is a designated area on a map that enables tracking and alerts when a vehicle enters or exits the boundary. This lets you define locations, monitor vehicle movements, and receive notifications for unauthorised activity or specific operational events.

Geo-fence creation follows a step-by-step process displayed on the left side of the screen. The progress bar tracks completion, and you must navigate through each step sequentially:
Step 1: Basic Details
Name: Enter a name for the geo-fenced location (e.g., "Warehouse perimeter").
Step 2: Location
Define the location with one of the below options:
Use the search bar to navigate to a specific location.
Use the
icon to center the map on your current location.
Use the mouse to move the map and click to set the pin manually.
Set the perimeter:
Draw manually: Use the drawing tool to mark a custom boundary using lines, click on the map to set markers and create the boundary shape.
To amend a drawn perimeter, click the
icon > Click on a marker to expand the shape > Click Complete to save shape changes or Cancel to remove changes
Set around location: Use the scalable perimeter tool to set the boundary around your chosen point, adjusting the range as needed using the slider and the +/- buttons
Drag the pin to move the entire boundary.
Use the
icon to delete the set boundary.
Use the
icon to recenter the map to the middle of your boundary.
Step 3: Time
Specify the days and times to apply the geo-fence:
Tick the days of the week
The time dropdown will default to Anytime, change this to a specific start time to set a time period > Set the end time.
For example, Mondays from 9 am to 12 pm and 1pm to 5pm allows for free movement from 12 pm to 1 pm.
Step 4: Assign to
Choose which vehicles the geo-fence will apply to:
Specific vehicles: Assign to one or more vehicles by selecting them from the drop down.
All vehicles: Apply the geo-fence to all vehicles in the fleet.
Vehicles will need to be added via the FMS dashboard to apply geo-fences to specific vehicles.
Step 5: Notifications
Choose whether notifications are sent when a vehicle:
Enters the gero-fence
Exits the geo-fence
Email notification: Set up email alerts to notify the appropriate recipients when engineers do not meet departure rules.
Who should receive notifications:
Users: Send the notification to the chosen user names only.
Roles: Send the notification to all users on the chosen roles.
Everyone: All users receive the notification.
None: Disable this notification type.
Email template: Select an appropriate email template to use for this notification.
Add new template: Create a new template to use if you have not done so already.
Notification: Enable global notifications for in-system alerts.
Who should receive notifications:
Users: Send the notification to the chosen user names only.
Roles: Send the notification to all users on the chosen roles.
None: No one receives the notification.
Step 6: Finish
Click Finish to choose to either:
Activate the template immediately.
Save as draft to activate later.
Once activated, the geo-fence will be assigned based on the configuration in Step 4.
Managing geo-fences
Edit geo-fence
➡️ Actions > Edit > Amend details > Save
If the geo-fence is active, the fenced area cannot be edited. If you need to edit the chosen area, create a new Geo-fence and delete the existing one.
Delete geo-fence
➡️ Actions > Delete > Type Delete > Confirm
