Understanding your Legacy plan upgrade options

What the Legacy plan retirement means for your account, what you need to do, and where to find your own upgrade details.

Available on: Legacy plans

Commusoft introduced new plans with an updated licensing model in October 2020. If your plan predates that release, you're on what we call a Legacy plan. All accounts are moving onto Commusoft Core, and this article explains what that means for you and where to find the details for your own account.

Why Legacy plans are being retired

Legacy plans still receive basic updates and maintenance. They are no longer compatible with new features, future Commusoft Core updates, or "+" add-ons. Legacy accounts also can't use the new licensing model, which changes how you manage payments and contract renewals.

Moving all accounts onto Core means everyone is on a single, actively developed platform.

What you need to do

Indicate your intention to upgrade by 2 November 2026.

Your own upgrade details, including the plan recommended for your business, have already been sent to you. There are three places to find them.

Check your email. You'll have received a message setting out the plan we recommend for your account.

Check your in-app announcements.

➡️ Click the Megaphone icon

The What's new on Commusoft panel opens with the latest posts. Click an announcement title to open that post in full, or click What's new on Commusoft at the top of the panel to see the whole news feed.

Read your upgrade brochure. Each brochure covers one upgrade path and includes pricing, storage, training requirements, and a full feature comparison. The brochures are listed below.

Your upgrade brochure

Choose the brochure that matches your current plan and the plan you've been asked to move to. If you're not sure which applies, check your email or your in-app announcement first.

Note: Your brochure is the source of truth for pricing, training, and feature differences on your specific upgrade path.

The new licensing model

Everyone who accesses Commusoft needs a licence. A licence is an available seat. You can hold spare seats ready for new staff and future growth, but you can't create a user without a licence to cover them.

There are three licence types.

  • Contracted licences: Committed for a 12-month period. Best for permanent staff

  • Monthly rolling licences: More expensive, but can be added or removed monthly. Suited to temporary or seasonal workers

  • Daily licences: Charged day by day. Suited to subcontractors and occasional workers

Common questions

Do I need to sign a new contract?

Yes, you need to sign a new contract. Upgrading starts a new 12-month agreement, so your pricing and licence count are locked in for the year.

What will my new plan cost?

The cost of your new plan is set out in your upgrade brochure and in the email you received. Pricing depends on the plan you're moving to and the number of licences you need, so it isn't the same for every account. To talk it through, book a call with our team.

Will I need additional training?

Whether you need additional training depends on your upgrade path. Some paths need no training at all, while others include sessions to cover new features and workflows. Your upgrade brochure confirms which applies to you.

What features will I gain?

The features you gain depend on the plan you're moving to. Each upgrade brochure includes a full feature comparison between your current plan and the plan being recommended.

Why can't I use "+" add-ons on my Legacy plan?

You can't use "+" add-ons on a Legacy plan because the add-on ecosystem needs the modern licence-based model to work. Legacy plans use an older per-user structure that can't support modular add-ons. Moving to Core unlocks them.

What if I don't want to upgrade?

If you don't want to upgrade, review your upgrade brochure and then discuss it with your Client Success Partner. You can book a call to talk through your options.

Who do I speak to about my account?

To speak to someone about your account, book a call with our team.
