Connecting GoCardless lets you collect recurring contract payments automatically, and lets your customers pay single invoices themselves in the self-service portals. You connect the integration once, choose which payment method records each type of payment, and Commusoft handles the collections from there. To understand how each payment type works, see Understanding GoCardless payments in Commusoft.
Note: Set up your payment methods in your finance settings before you connect. You need a separate payment method for each option you plan to use.
Connect GoCardless
âĄď¸ Click your Profile icon > Integrations > Payments
The GoCardless card appears alongside the other payment integrations.
Connect your GoCardless account
On the GoCardless card, click Add integration.
Click Connect to GoCardless.
Log in to your GoCardless account, or create one if you do not have one yet.
When Commusoft reloads, select your GoCardless creditor, then click Continue.
The creditor is the account Commusoft sends payment requests to. If your login has several creditor accounts, Commusoft lists them all so you can choose.
Choose your payment methods and nominal code
At the Payment method stage, select a payment method for each payment option, then click Continue.
At the Nominal code stage, select the nominal code GoCardless payments post to, then click Save.
Once setup is complete, the integration becomes active and the card displays new options.
Important: Every payment option needs its own unique payment method. You can select only one payment method per option. No payment method can be shared with another payment integration, so your Stripe and GoCardless options each need their own.
Change the payment method or nominal code
âĄď¸ Click your Profile icon > Integrations > Payments > Manage integration
The panel opens on the four setup stages. Stages you have already completed show a tick, so you can go straight to the one you want to change.
Click Payment method to change which payment method records each payment option.
Click Nominal code to change the nominal code GoCardless payments post to.
Click Save.
Note: These dropdowns list your own payment methods and nominal codes. The names you see are the ones your business has set up in its finance settings.
Disconnect the integration
âĄď¸ Click your Profile icon > Integrations > Payments
On the GoCardless card, click Disconnect.
Type Disconnect to confirm.
Click Disconnect.
Important: Any payments still pending when you disconnect will fail in both Commusoft and GoCardless. You will need to collect them with another payment method.
Understanding integration statuses
The integration card shows the current status of your connection.
Active: the integration is connected and you can take payments.
In review: GoCardless is reviewing your account. Contact GoCardless first to confirm the review is complete, then our Client services team can help if you still have a problem.
Error: the GoCardless account is connected to more than one Commusoft account. Disconnect GoCardless from your other Commusoft accounts to resolve it.
Note: The card can show as active while GoCardless is still finishing its checks. If you see a message saying the integration is still processing, GoCardless has not completed its side yet.
What to set up next
With the integration active, complete the setup for the payment types you plan to use.
Contract payments: set the payment option in your contract templates to bank payment. See How to take contract payments by Direct Debit, ACH, PAD, or card.
One-off portal payments: add the self-service portal tags to your Invoice email template and Statement email template. Then configure your Invoice portal settings and Statement portal settings.
