Payment methods are the list your team picks from when recording a payment, covering everything from cash and check to card and bank transfer. Setting them up accurately keeps your reporting reliable and your tax records clean. It also lets you record both manual payments and payments taken through an integration.
Note: Each payment option in a payment integration needs its own unique payment method, and no payment method can be shared between integrations. Set up a separate one for every option you plan to use.
Add a payment method
âĄď¸ Click your Profile icon > Settings > Finance > Payment methods
â
The page opens with Add a payment method on the left and Existing payment methods on the right.
Under Add a payment method, type the name in the Payment method field.
Click Add payment method.
Tip: Name each method the way your team would describe it, and make integration methods obvious, for example "Card (Stripe)" or "Direct Debit (GoCardless)". Clear names make it much easier to pick the right one when recording a payment.
Edit a payment method
In the Existing payment methods list, click Edit next to the method you want to change.
Update the Payment method field.
Click Save payment method.
Note: If the method you want is not shown, use the page numbers underneath the list. You can also click the Showing records dropdown above the list to display 5 or 10 payment methods per page.
Delete a payment method
In the Existing payment methods list, click Delete next to the method.
Type Delete to confirm you want to permanently remove it.
Click Delete.
Important: You cannot delete a payment method that is in use with a payment integration. Change the payment method in the integration first, then delete it here.
Note: You can delete a payment method that has already been used on payments. Those payments still show the method when you view them, but anyone editing one of them has to choose a new method before saving.
