How to enable the SMS feature

SMS messaging is an optional, chargeable add-on that allows you to send automated reminders, updates, and communications to customers directly from Commusoft. You can enable this feature when you first open your account in the setup wizard, or at any time after upon request through our support team.

The feature is managed through a simple credit system. Credits are purchased in bundles, and the system automatically renews your balance to ensure you never run out, keeping your customer communication seamless.

How the credit system works

SMS messages and postcode lookups are both paid for using credits. The system is designed to be hassle-free, with an automatic renewal feature to ensure you always have credits available.

  1. Purchase an initial credit bundle. The minimum package is 100 credits.

    • By default, you will be set up with the 100-credit bundles unless you request a different package.

  2. Use credits for sending SMS messages.

  3. When your credit balance drops to 50% of your bundle's total, the system automatically renews it.

  4. An invoice for the new bundle is generated and emailed to you. The amount is added to your next scheduled direct debit payment, so no immediate action is required.

Invoices raised for bundles on your account will be added to the billing section in your Commusoft account as soon as they are raised.


How to enable or change your SMS bundle

To enable SMS for the first time or to change your bundle, simply raise a request via the support menu in your account. We offer a range of bundles to suit different usage volumes.

Common questions

💭 What is the character limit for an SMS?

Each SMS credit covers a message of up to 160 characters. If a message exceeds this limit, it is split into segments of 153 characters and will be charged as multiple messages.

💭 When does my credit bundle renew?

Your credit bundle will automatically renew when your balance reaches 50% of your total package size. For example, a 500-credit bundle will renew when your balance drops to 250 credits.

💭 How do I pay for the renewed bundle?

You don't need to do anything. An invoice is automatically generated and the amount is simply added to your next direct debit payment.
