Sage 50cloud Accounts Interface Installation and Reinstallation Guide
Updated over 4 months ago

To enable communication between Commusoft and Sage desktop, you must install a program called the "Sage Interface." Follow these steps carefully to ensure proper setup or reinstallation.

Important Notes

  1. Installation Location:

    • The installation must be performed on the PC/Server that hosts the Sage 50cloud Accounts Database.

    • Ensure this PC/Server also has an instance of the Sage 50cloud Accounts Client installed.

  2. Network Paths:

    • Important: The Sage Interface does not support network paths. Make sure all paths used are local to the machine where the integration is being set up.

  3. Single Installation Requirement:

    • Install the Sage Interface only once on the main Sage PC/Server. Do not install the interface on any other machines.

  4. Administrative Rights:

    • Full administrator privileges/rights are required to install the Sage Interface. Ensure these permissions are in place before starting the installation or reinstallation.

  5. Close Sage Client:

    • Before beginning the installation or reinstallation of the Sage Interface, ensure the Sage 50cloud Accounts Client is closed.

  6. Anti-Virus Software:

    • If anti-virus software is installed on the PC/Server, configure it to allow the integration:

      • Permit the download to complete.

      • Add the following exclusions after installation:

    Exclusions to Add:

    • Folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\SageInterface

    • Program: SageInterfaceService.exe

  7. Windows Services Configuration:

    • During Windows updates or at startup, the Sage service may not start correctly, as other services/processes might take priority.

    • Set the Sage service to Automatic (Delayed Start).

    • Configure the service to recover itself if it fails.

  8. Sage Data Path Configuration:

    • The Sage data path must end with ACCDATA. To verify or modify this:

      • Go to the About page in the Sage 50cloud Accounts Client.

      • Locate the data path and open the corresponding folder.

      • Ensure the path ends with ACCDATA. If needed, copy and adjust the path URL.

Installing the Sage Interface During Integration Setup

  1. Pre-Installation Notes:

    • Review the Sage 50cloud Accounts: Overview article before completing these steps.

    • We recommend setting your integration to manually send data until you fully understand the process.

    • Commusoft posts only to the Transaction log within Sage 50cloud Accounts.

    • Supported Sage versions: 24.2 to 30.1.342.

    • Ensure your nominal codes are set up before sending any data: Linking nominal codes.

  2. Commusoft Access:

    • Commusoft requires access to a Sage 50cloud Accounts user account to transfer data.

    • We recommend creating a new Sage 50 user account with:

      • Username: cs

      • Password: cs123

    • If using an existing user account, ensure you know the Sage 50 username and password.

    • If the Sage user account is in use, Commusoft will queue the data until the account is available.

    • During the setup integration steps in Commusoft, you'll see a link to download the Sage Interface. This file will download to your PC/Server's Downloads folder.

      • Domestic reverse VAT rate codes (for Sage 50 Version 27.1 and above only)

  6. Initialize the Services:

    • After installation, open Services and Event Viewer on the Sage PC/Server.

    • Allow up to 15 minutes for the services to initialize. You can check their status in Event Viewer under Windows Logs > Applications.

  7. Complete Integration in Commusoft:
